Whilst retaining the existing traditional products Van Mannekus has introduced a new range of high quality magnesia products for specialty markets. The premises of the company cover 25.000 m2 and are located in the port of Rotterdam providing excellent logistic services to destinations around the world. Van Mannekus is jointly owned by TIMAB Industries and Grecian Magnesite.
The joint ownership strengthens the position of both shareholders as global suppliers of Magnesia products by offering a wide range of tailor-made caustic calcined magnesia grades. Van Mannekus & Co. B.V. benefits from both Grecian Magnesite’s Research & Development capabilities and TIMAB’s international network for sourcing and sales. The partnership provides Van Mannekus & Co. B.V. with global access to magnesia sourcing which allows us to further develop our position in most industrial markets of magnesia.
TIMAB, a subsidiary of Roullier Group, is a major player in the markets for mineral raw materials, including magnesia and phosphates. TIMAB also offers its products mainly for animal feed, but also to many other industries including: fertilisers, agribusiness, paper, road de-icing and wastewater treatment industries.
Grecian Magnesite S.A. is Europe’s leading producer and supplier of caustic calcined magnesia dedicated to a wide range of industries. The company also produces Magnesium carbonate grades for specialty applications. In May 2009, Grecian Magnesite invested significantly in a secondary process line targeted at recovering fine fractions from its mine ore and stockpiles.
Van Mannekus is the sole distributor for Ecopiren, a range of micronised Magnesium Hydroxides of natural origin (brucite) produced by Russian Mining Chemical Company. Ecopiren is especially suitable as flame retardant in thermoplastic and elastomer polymer compounds, and can also be used as a functional filler in paints and resins.
