Guyana bauxite is manufactured in a rotary kiln at 1650°C and forms a high alpha alumina bauxite with a mullite matrix and low alkalis.

It is used for the manufacture of high alumina refractory monolithics and shaped products and as a road dressing aggregate for high friction surfacing.
