Synthetic magnesium oxide
Synthetic magnesium oxide is predominantly produced from either seawater or brine, which is reacted with lime or dolime.
This product is called Purmag, and is available in various activities. With this product we target markets such as waste water treatment, rubber and plastics, catalysts, paper and pulp, magnesium compounds and lubricants.
Natural magnesium oxide
Magnesium oxide calcined from Magnesite (MgCO3) is often referred to as 'natural magnesium oxide'. The Magnesite can be calcined in horizontal rotary kilns or vertical (shaft or multiple hearth) kilns, each resulting in a magnesium oxide with different physical properties. Grecian Magnesite S.A, 50% share holder of VMC, is Europe's biggest producers of natural magnesium oxide and Possehl Erzkontor GmbH is Europe's biggest importer.
